Resident Engagement Team

Carol Soules, MSW, LICSW, Resident Engagement Manager

Carol joined the HCDI staff in 2016 to deepen and expand the Resident Engagement program at HCDI’s properties. Under Carol’s leadership HCDI Resident Engagement has identified three main initiatives, brought additional staff on board, developed numerous community partnerships and has been awarded several grants to advance the RE initiatives.

Previously she was a faculty member and community engagement administrator at UMass Amherst. Her social work roots called her back to work directly with the community. She brings extensive experience, especially in program development and community organizing, to our team.

LaToya Casey, BSW, Resident Engagement Coordinator

LaToya initially joined our team as an Elms College Social Work intern in 2016. She is now a Resident Engagement Coordinator supporting a variety of programs at HCDI’s Springfield properties. She supervises and mentors our Youth Leaders, runs the Home City Pantry, coordinates the Mobile Food Bank, and does specialized case management.

On any given day you might find her working with residents and youth leaders in our community garden, facilitating a garden meeting, cooking for a community meal, hosting coffee hours, planning our children’s parties, creating our newsletters or meeting with a resident facing hardship.
